Online beauty guide and e-zine aims to please

If you’re new in town and not sure where to start looking, Malaysia’s first online directory and e-magazine for beauty and wellness might help point you in the right direction.

Established last December, Beauty Guide aims to be a comprehensive online directory for beauty and wellness to serve Malaysians, expatriates and tourists. The portal beautyguide.com.my enables users to locate the best spas, massages, fitness, facial, hair and nail outlets nationwide. It also allows salons and spas to submit their details, and become discoverable through the listing platform, so customers searching for a service will be able to locate them easily. Beauty Guide is a subsidiary of Consider Digital (considerdigital.com/), a leading full-service digital marketing agency based in Kuala Lumpur.

“We want to be the place you go to find information and reviews about beauty, spas and wellness treatments in Malaysia, and the place for advice, tips and guidance from beauty industry professionals as part of our blog,” said Beauty Guide founder and managing director Therese Schwensen. She felt that this was a niche that had yet to be fulfilled and it was timely to launch such a guide to cater to the burgeoning beauty industry in Malaysia.

Originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, Schwensen honed her digital expertise while working for tech and digital companies, and believes that “digital is the place for building long-lasting relationships between brands and consumers”. In addition to being a guide, the portal aims to provide reviews in real-time from clients giving their opinions for services they have received in salons and spas across Malaysia.

It also includes a Beauty Guide Blog which covers beauty and wellness issues women and men face, written by salon specialists. This is classified into four subdivisions with Beauty, Spa and Wellness, Skincare and Feature interviews.

“We hope to gain more feedback from our existing and prospective merchants and users to make our site the perfect guide for beauty and wellness nationwide,” says Schwensen.
